Our Mission Statement

Troop 262 and its members have changed greatly since its formation in 1957, but its focus remains the same as in the beginning: to impart the values embodied by the Scout Oath and Law to the young men in our troop. Its leaders not only focus on teaching Scout skills, such as camping, cooking, and backpacking, but we also believe that community service should be the foundation of our organization.

General Information

Troop 262 is chartered by Dalewood United Methodist Church in Nashville, Tennessee.  The troop currently meets every Monday night from 7:00 to 8:30 PM. We work on Scout skills and advancement during part of the meeting, and try to plan at least one camping trip every month.

The troop's adult leadership always tries to make sure that all troop activities are planned and carried out by the Scouts themselves, with minimal input from us whenever possible. We feel that by operating the troop in the traditional "patrol" method, the Patrol Leaders have a greater appreciation for responsibility and what it takes to be the leader of a group. It also gives the patrol members more input into planning and carrying out the activities that they are involved.
